Chai to Chia showcases vegetarian and vegan, ethnic recipes from around the world. While this space also features travel tips, exploring food and culture is the key to our wanderlust.
Why Chai to Chia?
Chai. Ask an Indian and they will tell you the deep warmth and countless memories a cup of chai invokes. After centuries of being carted around in its homeland, this soul-soothing drink has made its way from the ancient Indian kitchen to the hearts of many across the world.
Chia. One of the first “superfoods” that I’d heard of back when the term was popularized. A pioneer protein replacement ingredient in the spiraling vegetarian movement across the globe. It became the new-age breakfast bowl, calorie considerate pudding and cruelty- free egg. Beyond being the invigorating seed it is, it is slowly transforming the urban pantry to a healthier one.
Chai to Chia represents this journey of ethnic foods to the modern day kitchen. Perhaps it’s the media, but kitchens today, I believe, have evolved to be more health conscious and ethically cognizant. In this blog, I aspire to bring to you nutritious recipes that are easy-to-make, vegetarian and ethnically inspired. Although we are a lacto-ovo-vegetarian family, we make every effort to create recipes that are vegan and gluten-free.
I’m Shivani. A nutritionist and pharmacist by training, I am a food fanatic (duh!), type A trip planner, wannabe gardner, and a textile lover. When not working, you will find me downing cups of chai, watching sitcoms, and exploring LA!
